A Family Of Sailors
Well, not yet, but we’re getting there!
Every day we learn a little more about the Rules of the Nautical Road, or rigging and handling, or maintenance and repairs. One day, hopefully sooner than later, we will depart from the amazing Hawaii coast and not return. It will take a bit of work to get there, but we are up to the task!

Our life in Hawaii began when Justin’s submarine changed homeports from Groton, CT to Pearl Harbor, HI. We moved to Hawaii about a week before Christmas 2017 and have been living in tropical luxury ever since!
In the beginning of 2020 we started to plan for life after the NAVY. Courses were paid for, training workshops were researched, resumes were sent out, and plane tickets were purchased to travel for certification classes. Then, COVID-19 shut down all planning and execution. We had quite a bit of time at home to eat ice cream and watch YouTube and discovered Sailing SV Delos. We saw what retirement should look like and decided to go for it!
After 4 months of watching very informative and very motivational YouTube channels (Sailing UMA, Rigging Doctor, Sailing Millennial Falcon, Sailing Project Atticus, The Paper Boat Project, and at least 10 more) and raising some money we were ready to go boat shopping. We officially became owners of our retirement home on July 31st 2020. See, it wasn’t such a bad year after all!
Moving aboard?
We are halfway through 2022, and we are making amazing progress! Though, we are a little past our timeline to move everything onto the boat. It seems like we just run into one problem after another. But, that’s okay, we’ll get there eventually!
